Cold conditions have intensified across Odisha, with large parts of the State experiencing a sharp drop in temperature. The cold wave is expected to persist for at least another two days, while weather conditions are likely to remain unchanged until January 17, according to the Meteorological Department.
As per reports, G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded a minimum temperature of 3.7 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, making it one of the coldest locations in the State. The region continues to reel under severe cold conditions. Officials noted that G. Udayagiri has been witnessing a steady decline in temperature over the past two weeks. Although cold conditions had fluctuated earlier, the chill has intensified significantly over the last few days.
Fog Likely In 13 Districts
The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate fog in 13 districts over the next three days. Weather officials have assessed that there will be no major change in prevailing conditions until January 17, indicating continued cold nights and early morning chill across the State.
Koida Hit By Sharp Temperature Drop
As per reports, Koida has also been experiencing severe cold, with the minimum temperature falling below 8 degrees Celsius during nighttime. The sharp dip in temperature has had a noticeable impact on daily life, with residents finding it difficult to carry out routine activities, particularly during early mornings and evenings.

Daily Life Disrupted By Biting Chill
With temperature plunging after sunset, roads and streets in several areas are reportedly emptying early. Locals have been frequently seen sitting near open fires for extended periods to keep warm. The prolonged cold spell has added to discomfort, especially in interior and hilly regions, where the chill is more pronounced.
