Keonjahr: Launching a broadside against opposition Congress, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said working for the people of the state was not in the party`s history. He ridiculed `tall` claims by Congress that it had initiated a lot of welfare measures in the state and said "Congress has done nothing for the state and its leaders are busy for attaining self gains."

"I don`t believe in telling lies, instead put stress on development of the state," Patnaik told an election meeting at Nischintpur near here. Opposition parties, particularly Congress, had launched a malicious campaign against the BJD government in the state by making false allegations, he claimed adding the people would teach them a lesson in the next moth`s hustings for three-tier panchayat polls in the state scheduled to be held between February 11 and 19.

During his whirlwind two-hour tour to the district, he addressed at least four meetings at Chenapodi near Anandpur, Harichandanpur, Pandapara near Ghatagaon besides Nischintapur and spoke about various welfare schemes launched by his government for the uplift of the poor.
