Bhubaneswar: The state government has fixed the target of extending rabi crops in about three and half lakh hectares of land and would provide agricultural loans to the tune of Rs.1,700 crores. The decision was taken at a high level meeting at the state secretariat chaired by the Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik. At the meeting Naveen stressed on timely distribution of fertiliser and seeds and repair if light irrigation points all over the state.

In the wake of recent floods and drought, the meeting decided to provide agricultural loans to about 15,00900 farmers while it was provided to about 13,000 farmers during the last rabi. The loan repayment duration too has been increased to facilitate the farmers.
