Odisha CM Mohan Majhi on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5L each after five on-duty police personnel lost their lives while three others have been left battling for their lives after a tragic collision between a tipper truck and their police Bolero vehicle in front of Jharsuguda police station on Sunday.
The accident occurred at dawn when the speeding tipper rammed head-on into the police vehicle, resulting in fatalities at the scene. Odisha CM Mohan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and announced the ex-gratia.
Details of the Fatal Accident
According to reports, the crash took place outside Jharsuguda Sadar police station when a tipper truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the police vehicle. The impact was so severe, claiming the lives of five personnel instantly.
The deceased have been identified as APR personnel Kashiram Bhoi and Debadatta Sa, Drill Sub-Inspector Niranjan Kujur, APR Havildar Lingaraj Dhurua and Home Guard Bhaktabandhu Mirdha.

Injured Personnel Under Treatment
Three others sustained serious injuries in the accident. Two of them have been admitted to a private hospital in Bargarh, while another has been shifted to Burla for advanced treatment. Sub-Inspector Rajeev Bhosagar suffered chest injuries, and Constable Yuvraj Meher sustained facial injuries. Medical authorities stated that Meher may require surgery if necessary.
Government Response and Conclusion
CM Mohan Majhi conveyed condolences over the deaths of the five police personnel who were on duty at the time of the incident. The announcement of financial assistance aims to support the bereaved families during this difficult period.
