Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Jal Vayu Towers, a housing project to provide residential units for about 250 personnel serving in Navy and Air Force.

"I am happy that the Air Force and Navy have set up a housing board to provide affordable dwelling units on no loss and no profit basis for their serving and retired personnel and also widows," Patnaik said at a function held on the occasion.

Lauding contribution of defence personnel in nation building, the chief minister said that the Air Force Naval Housing Board has plans to provide affordable houses to all personnel from the state.

The project is its first initiative for which the state government has allotted four acres of land in the state capital.

Stating that the state government has been supporting various projects and installations of the defence organisation, Patnaik said 40 acres of land has been provided for the installation of a radar in Sambalpur.

There is also a move to provide land for establishing an operational base of the Indian Air Force at Charbatia.
