Class X Student Dies After Being Hit By Train In Odisha

Baripada: A Class X student was killed after being reportedly hit by a speeding train at Machapada in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Bijay Nayak, a student of Gopabandhu Sikhya Niketan at Machapada under Baisinga police limits in the district.

According to sources, the boy, who was staying in the school hostel, had gone to attend nature's call near the railway line in the area at around 4.30 am today. It is suspected that he was hit by Balasore-Baripada DEMU train.

Tension erupted at Machapada village following the death of the student as the villagers reportedly staged protest in front of the school.

While the father of the deceased student alleged that the school authorities did not informed him about the death of his son, villagers alleged that the students from the school regularly go near the railway tracks to attend nature’s call.

Till last report came in, police were on the spot to thwart any untoward incident.
