Class 3 student dies after slipping in bathroom of school hostel in Keonjhar

A Class 3 girl student died inside a school hostel after slipping in the bathroom on Wednesday. 

The tragic incident took place at the girls’ hostel of Bheemakand Nodal Upper Primary School under Telkoi police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The deceased has been identified as Tejashwani Naik, daughter of Ganeshwar Naik from Kuladera village. 

According to reports, the child lost her balance inside the bathroom and slipped, sustaining a severe injury to the back of her head.

Hostel staff immediately rushed to her rescue. She was taken to the Telkoi Community Health Centre in critical condition. 

Tejashwani was said to be conscious during the journey and was able to speak. Despite the doctors’ efforts, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

Doctors stated that profuse internal bleeding led to her death. The school principal attributed the accident to slippery bathroom tiles.

The heartbreaking incident has plunged the school and the local community into grief. Authorities are expected to launch an inquiry to determine whether negligence or inadequate safety measures played a role in the fatal fall.
