Class 12th student commits suicide just before results

 

Rayagada: A Class 12th student committed suicide in Rayagada before the announcement of the final results, which were declared by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha today.

Anurag, a science student of Christ College in Cuttack, committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan and it is being suspected that he took the extreme step yesterday night.

His father, Abhay Kumar Sethi, who works as an assistant statistical officer in the District Planning and Monitoring department said “I had gone to his room to get my towel. After entering his room, I found him hanging.”

Sources said that Anurag failed in the 12th board exam after scoring 192 marks, which came out after his death.

Raygada Police Station IIC, Rabindra Patra, said “When the victim’s room was opened this morning, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan.”

An investigation is currently underway, informed sources.

Another Class 12th student had allegedly set himself on fire in his house at Gayatri Nagar under Bada Bazar police limits in Berhampur on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Rajesh Panda.

Sources said Rajesh had appeared the annual board examination twice but failed to clear both the times. He had also appeared the examination this year.

He allegedly committed suicide in his study room by pouring kerosene and setting himself on fire when his parents were out to market yesterday.

Rajesh’s parents found the burnt body of their son when they reached home and later lodged a complaint at Bada Bazaar police station.
