Firms chosen for database preparation
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) has selected Mumbai-based Stock Holding Corporation of India Project Limited and city-based Print Link Computer and Communication through tender process to prepare the database of the depositors of multi-crore chit fund scam in the State.
According to sources, the Mumbai firm will provide infrastructure while the local company will be responsible for digitization of the affidavits by scanning them. Print Link has set a target to complete digitalization of more than 45 lakh pages of affidavits in six to seven months.
The process will kick start from next week and will be carried out at 30 work stations in initial phase. Later, the number of work stations will be increased to 50 if required, sources said.
Earlier, Justice R.K. Patra, who heads the commission set up for the purpose, expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of preparation of the database of the scam-hit investors.
Sources said in neighbouring West Bengal, more than 35 lakh small chit fund depositors have been refunded over Rs 350 crore by June 5, 2014, itself.
