Berhampur: Resentment is now brewing among hundreds of people duped by Golden Land Developers, a ponzi company in Berhampur. The victims along with several agents staged a demonstration in front of company’s office at Aska road alleging non-payment of money.

The director of the company, Jugal Khandual reportedly escaped from the spot after hundreds of victims staged a dharna in front of his residence yesterday.

“I had deposited Rs 5 to Rs 7 lakh in the company. The officials of the company threatened to kill us when were demanded our money back,” said Kori Pradhan, an agent.

Manju Parida, a depositor from Bhubaneswar informed that the company officials had assured them to repay their money by selling the assets.

“The officials of the company are maintaining a lavish lifestyle on our money. We have been moving from pillar to post to get our money,” said Pradhan.

Berhampur SDPO, Bishnuprasad Pati informed that the Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has already registered a case against the company.

“A few property of the company has been confiscated and we have asked the victims to hold discussions with us and provide us information regarding the company offices and other assets for appropriate action. The list of depositors as well other information will be shared with EOW,” said Pati.
