Chit fund victims stage dharna over non-payment of money

Berhampur: Thousands of investors today staged dharna in front of the office of Golden Land Developers Limited near Aska road in Berhampur alleging non-payment of money even after the order of Orissa High Court.

According to sources, money of nearly seven lakh investors of Ganjam district is yet to be paid by GLP Developers Limited and Golden Land Developers Limited even after HC ruling. On 2013, the companies had collected funds from the depositors with a promise to pay higher interest rate within a short span of time.

The protestor alleged that Orissa HC had ordered the concerned companies to return money to the duped investors but neither has the State government nor have the companies taken any step in this regard for the same.

Following delay in disbursement of money among the duped investors, Congress slammed the ruling-BJD and alleged that in name of corpus fund the State government is trying to fool the people.

“Even after the HC order, almost 18 months ago, the State government has not taken any measure to disbursed the money among the investors. We will continue our protest till we get back our money,” said an investor, Nabin Patnaik.

“Hard earned money of poor people has been taken fraudulently by Golden Land Developers Limited but the State government is silent on the issue,” alleged Ganjam Congress president, Dipak Patnaik.

Besides, the protestors have threatened to boycott the upcoming elections, it their money is not paid soon.

Meanwhile, the BJD leaders could not be contacted to comment on the allegations.
