Child Killed, Five Injured As Car Falls Off Bridge In Balasore

Balasore: A 3-year-old child was killed and five other persons suffered injury after the car they were travelling in skidded off a bridge and fell into a canal in Balasore today.

According to sources, two friends Prafulla Dalei and Ratnakar Pradhan of Panapana village in Soro area were going to Balasore along with their family members when their vehicle met with the accident on the canal road near Olia chhak.

Eyewitnesses said that their car first hit a road divider on the bridge and later veered off the road and fell into the canal several feet down.

Later, nearby locals and passersby came to their rescue and immediately launched a rescue operation. Some rescuers jumped into the canal and many others made arrangements to pull out the victims from the ill-fated car.

During the rescue operation, body of a baby girl was found from inside the car while five other persons who sustained grievous injuries were sent to Balasore hospital for treatment.
