Bhubaneswar: State chief secretary B K Patnaik on Friday received a parcel containing a pencil-size detonator along with a warning from unidentified people, police said.

The detonator landed with the staff of the chief secretary exactly a week after the State Election Commission received a similar object, police said adding the parcel came to the election commissioner`s office on January 13.

"The source of the detonator to the CS office and the parcel to the SEC could be same. Both of them came from Maoist-hit Kankadahada area in Dhenkanal district," Commissioner of Police B K Sharma told reporters.

It was an electrical class-II detonator, Sharma said adding the letter was written in red ink. "The content of both the letters was almost same and written in red ink. It appeared to be handiwork of an organisation and not any individual," he said.

The letter highlighted bad health service and large scale liquor trade in Dhenkanal district, Sharma said. The bomb disposal squad of the Commissionerate of Police seized the material after being informed.
