Chhatrapur Lady Doctor Suicide: Families blame each other

Berhampur: Even though the police are yet to make any headway in the suicide case of Dr Archana Das, the deceased’s family members and in-laws have started pointing fingers at each other over her death.

Anjan Das, the husband of the deceased, said that Archana was suffering from multiple health disorders including diabetes and taking psychiatric medication. He further said that he had taken full care of her when she suffered brain stroke.

However, the deceased woman’s family members refuted Anjan’s claims that Archana was having any psychiatric problem. They also said that the couple used to stay together in Bhubaneswar but after December 2017, Archana left her husband and was staying with them (her own family).

“If Archana was mentally unfit, how come she was serving as a doctor? Ganjam CDMO had himself certified the fitness of Archana. Due to excessive mental stress over torture from her in-laws, Archana took the extreme step,” alleged father of the deceased, Raghunath Dash.

Dash further alleged that when Archana suffered brain stroke, Anjan left her at their home instead of taking her to hospital.

The Government Railway Police had on August 17 recovered the mutilated body of Archana from the railway tracks near Chatrapur Railway Station.
