Cuttack: The body of a 22-year old girl was found inside her room at Mahavir lane near Badambadi square in Cuttack on the Thursday. The deceased, Pragyan Routray, is a final year student of Information Science and Telecommunication department of Ravenshaw University, police said.
The incident occurred late Wednesday night when all were asleep. Police suspected it as a case of suicide while family members alleged that some outsiders might have murdered her after setting her afire.
“There was no reason I find that would prompt my daughter to commit suicide. She was Normal”, Sarbeswar Routray, victim’s father, said.
A match box and a kerosene jar were seized near the spot, police said and denied to reveal further information. A case has been registered in this regard.
