Charred body of nursing student found in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: The charred body of a 19-year-old girl was found near a farmland at Kankadia village under Kansar panchayat of Kendrapara district this morning.

The deceased girl identified as Rukmini Swain was studying nursing in a college in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, family members of Rukimi noticed smoke emanating from an under construction house on the farmland and rushed to the spot only to find her charred remains. A kerosene jar was found near her body.

Family members informed that Rukmini had reached home on Thursday after attending an interview in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and was schedule to return today.

“She reached home last evening and complained of headache. Later she went to bed after having some food. She appeared tensed,” informed deceased’s father, Brajabandhu Swain.

On being informed, Sadar police station inspector-in-charge (IIC) along with other officials and a scientific team rushed to the spot and started investigation.

“Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests that the girl committed suicide,” said the IIC of Sadar Police Station.
