Bhubaneswar: After becoming the youngest Parliamentarian to the 17th Lok Sabha, Chandrani Murmu has brought laurels for the people of Odisha again. The woman MP from Keonjhar has featured on the latest cover story of national prestigious India Today magazine which has created cheers among her supporters and people of the State.

The India Today cover reads, ‘The New Brigade: First Time MPs make up half the new Lok Sabha and hope to bring the change India needs’.

Apart from Murmu, six other parliamentarians including Gautam Gambhir, Ravi Kishan and Tejasvi Surya also feature in the latest article.

The first-timer MP from Odisha, Chandrani Murmu was elected from tribal-dominated Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat on a BJD ticket in the recently concluded 2019 elections.

After completing her engineering from Bhubaneswar-based College in 2017, Murmu was in searching of a job and also preparing for competitive exams. But later, she joined BJD and won the polls. Murmu defeated her nearest rival, Ananta Nayak of BJP by a margin of 66,203 votes.

At the age of 25 years and 11 months, Murmu has become the youngest Parliamentarian ever replacing Dushyant Chautala.

In the 16th Lok Sabha, Indian National Lok Dal's Dushyant Chautala was the youngest MP. He was elected at the age of 26 from the Hisar Lok Sabha seat in 2014.
