Centre Sanctions Houses Under PMAY For Fani-Hit Families In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Central Government has decided to provide houses under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana –Gramin (PMAY-G) to the people of Odisha affected by the severe cyclonic storm Fani which caused large scale damage in the State.

Responding to an unstarred question by BJD Rajya Sabha members Prashanta Nanda and Narendra Swain, Union Minister of Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar informed that the families whose houses have been partially, completely or substantially damaged during cyclone Fani are listed in the permanent waiting list of PMAY-G. They are eligible for sanction of houses under special projects of PMAY-G.

Besides, the Ministry has already issued a notification on June 24 to provide benefits of additional 50 days of employment over and above 100 days under the MGNREGA for the financial year 2019-20 in 159 blocks of 14 districts affected by Fani in Odisha, Tomar stated.

It is pertinent to mention that Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik had requested the Centre to provide additional 5 lakh homes under PMAY-G for rehabilitation of people whose houses were damaged in Fani.
