Celebrating 100 Yrs of International Womens Day

(image) Bhubaneswar:  The centennial of the International Women`s Day is being celebrated in the state and all over the world to celebrate womanhood. While such a cause cannot be confined to a single day but this day is important to bring awareness for the liberation of the common women.

Today’s women have made a mark for themselves in various fields and are equally competitive with the other gender but still there are many who are fighting for their existence.

According to crime statistics, the atrocities against the women have increased in the twin city. There has been an increase in rape cases, blue cds in the past few years as most women have fallen victims in the hands of their families and relatives. “The violence against the women like cyber crime, blue cds and domestic violence have increased, while cases of burning women have reduced,” Social worker Tapsi Praharaj said.

The recruitment of women in police force has been encouraged but the number of female police personnel in the State is 3092. A special grievance cell is also there to stop the crime. “We are investigating into all the cases related to offences against women. The recruitment of women into the police force has given us a human face,” City Police Commissioner Bijay Kumar Sharma said.

There are many success stories of woman who have touched the skies with their ability and dedication but the battle is still to be won as there are million who have to find their identity as a human being.
