CBI nabs RPF Constable in Odisha Photograph: (OTV File)
A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable posted in the Bondamunda area of Odisha’s Rourkela was caught red-handed by the CBI while allegedly accepting a bribe from a group of ragpickers.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Izhar, was allegedly taking Rs 15,000 when he was apprehended. Acting on a tip-off, CBI teams from Bhubaneswar and Rourkela laid a trap and arrested him early on Friday morning at the railway station during the transaction.
Interrogation at Undisclosed Location
After the arrest, Izhar was reportedly taken into custody and is currently being interrogated at an undisclosed location. The CBI has not issued any official statement regarding the incident so far.
Sources indicated that the investigation team acted based on specific intelligence inputs about the constable’s involvement in bribery and extortion activities in the locality.
Raids at Multiple Locations
Following his arrest, the CBI carried out raids at the RPF head office in Chakradharpur, as well as at his residence and several other locations linked to him. The agency is examining documents and records to determine if there are earlier complaints or pending cases against him.
