Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Wednesday seized a Mercedes car owned by Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash in Mumbai.

Informing about the seizure of the luxury car worth Rs 50-lakh, Rajesh Kumar, DIG, EOW of Crime Branch said, “We are making arrangements to bring the vehicle to Odisha.”

Last week, the CB took hold of 100kg silver coins from a personal bank locker of the Seashore chief.

In a related development, the EOW has also written a letter to Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) requesting to freeze Rs 2.40 crore earnest money of Seashore Agricultural Promotion Company.

The company had signed an agreement with OREDA to set up a solar power plant with capacity of 20MW at Tusara block of Bolangir district. For this, it had deposited Rs 2.40 crore earnest money with OREDA apart from a processing fee of Rs 24 lakh.

It had also signed an agreement with Gridco to sell power produced from the plant.

“Due to the company’s inability to produce a bank guarantee on time ORDEA has already cancelled the agreement and forfeited the earnest money,” said Ashok Kumar Chowdhury, deputy director, ORDEA.

Meanwhile, Dash has been lodged in Koraput jail on charges of duping investors to the tune of Rs 50 crore in Semiliguda following rejection of his bail petitions twice.
