Cuttack: Crime Branch on Wednesday filed a status report on the progress made in the investigation into the murder of Swami Laxmananada Saraswati who was killed with four of his disciples during a prayer meeting in Kandhamal in 2008.

Replying to the High Court’s directive where the court, on April 20, had sought a status report on the progress in the investigation till date, the department in its status report has mentioned that none of the boarders of the ashram have been recorded as witness as no significant piece of information could have been found from them during the course of investigation by the probing authorities.

In its report, the department has also informed that the investigation is still in progress and the department would file the complete chargesheet very soon.

However, the allegations levelled by applicant Madhav Chaitanya that there have been loop holes in the investigation process hold no turth, the affidavit said.
