Cattle smuggling racket busted in Sundargarh Photograph: (OTV)
In a major crackdown, Rourkela Police carried out a raid against cattle smuggling activities in the Gudgudjore area under Bisra police station limits in Sundargarh district on Sunday.
As per reports, police arrested notorious cattle mafia Munjammil Ansari during the operation.
Police have arrested a total of four persons, including the prime accused, in connection with the case. Three country-made firearms and one fake gun were seized from their possession.
According to sources, police conducted raids at the accused’s residences throughout the day. Several materials used for cattle smuggling were recovered during the raids. Police also seized vehicles, including motorcycles, a car, and an auto-rickshaw, from the four accused.

Rourkela Superintendent of Police stated that further investigation into the case is underway.
"Four accused have been arrested for their involvement in arms smuggling and other inter-state crimes. They were also actively involved in cow smuggling. Extensive raids were carried out at their residences, during which two firearms, several air guns, and cow-slaughtering equipment were seized. Stern action will also be taken against other individuals involved in the crime," said Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani.
