Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara Police finally registered a case against MP Anubhav Mohanty on charges of misbehaving with OTV reporter Manoj Swain on November 5. As per reports, police registered a case under several Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections -341, 323, 294, 500 and 506 against the Parliamentarian on November 6.

It is pertinent to mention here that Anubhav misbehaved, and allegedly verbally abused and threatened OTV scribe Manoj Swain when he approached the former for a byte at Kendrapara Collectorate.

The parliamentarian was seen shoving the OTV boom and later dragged the journalist in front of the camera before mockingly clapping and commenting ‘you show news by distorting it’. Some other supporters of the actor-turned politician were also seen applauding his disgraceful gesture.

The incident has triggered state-wide resentment with journalists of several media houses staging demonstration against Anubhav for misbehaving with a working journalist.

Condemning the incident, journalists in Cuttack staged a protest & burnt the effigy of Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty today. Similarly, Balasore Working Journalists' Association submitted a memorandum to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik through district collector seeking action against the MP.

Not only journalists, lawyers and private bus owners’ association members in Pallahara also staged demonstration in front of sub-collector’s office protesting Anubhav Mohanty’s behaviour towards the working journalist.

Journalists from various media organisations yesterday staged demonstration in front of Jaydev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar protesting the highhandedness of the Kendrapara MP. The agitators also served a 24-hour ultimatum to the Odisha CM demanding action against MP Anubhav Mohanty for misbehaving with the OTV reporter.
