Cartoons tell-tale petrol price hike

Cuttack: Its all about a silent protest. There was neither a dharna, nor a rally or road blockade. Though the protest was not vocal, it communicated rather better than usual expressions. See it to believe it.

Cartoons at an exhibition in Cuttack were venting their ire against the government over the recent petrol price hike. While few were showing the hike as an unbearable burden on the middle class families, other cartoons indicated the government playing the role of a corrupt middleman.

As many as fifty cartoons by Odia cartoonist Ashok found their place at the exhibition held recently at Pantha Nivas. Many exhibits were also so expressing deep concern over the price rise which literally put economic burden on the consumers.  Some cartoons were also showing images of the cash-trapped government which tried to extract money from the poor consumers in the form of fuel price hike. The cartoons satirical though were meant for a smile from the visitors.
