Cuttack: After making a night’s halt here at Pratapnagai in the district, the sagadi (cart) carrying ‘daru’ (holy wood) of Lord Jagannath embarked on its journey towards Puri this evening.

Source s said, the cart will be stationed at Jagannath temple in Pandara, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar tonight and will resume its journey tomorrow afternoon.

Thousands of devotees and tourists thronged Pratapnagari today to pull the cart along with ‘banajagis’ and many more were seen struggling very hard in the crowd only to have a darshan of the daru.

Huge number of devotees gathered at the site to pull the card was evoking a feeling of a mini rath yatra or ‘car festival’ going on for few hours.

“I felt blessed as I got an opportunity not only to see the daru but also pulling the cart for some time amid such a huge gathering,” said Sangita Sahu, a devotee.
