Carcass of tusker found in Simlipal forest

(image) Bhubaneswar: An elephant was found dead on Sunday night at Pithabata range in Simlipal reserve forest, Mayurbhanj.

The incident took place at Pithabata range, when poachers had chased the elephant and killed the elephant by a poisonous arrow. The forest official reached the spot and tackled the
poachers but they managed to escape in the cover of darkness.

Later the carcass of the elephant was found on Monday morning. The forest officials have seized the tusks and the body, while the body of the tusker was sent for post-mortem.
