Baripada: Highly decomposed carcasses of four elephants were recovered from Similipal wildlife sanctuary in Mayurbhanj district, official sources said today. The carcasses were spotted near Domuhani nala under Ghudurucampa range in the sanctuary on Saturday, Deputy Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve, Bikash Ranjan Das said.

It is suspected that the elephants were poisoned by some poachers who had apparently tried to bury the bodies and cover them with dry leaves, he said.
