A high-speed car accident at Ainthapali in Odisha’s Sambalpur district late on Thursday night caused extensive damage to a four-wheeler, with the impact of the crash flinging the vehicle’s engine nearly 100 feet away.
Despite the severity of the collision, the driver narrowly escaped without sustaining any life-threatening injuries. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Impact of Collision
According to preliminary information, the four-wheeler crashed into an electric pole near Adarsha Marg. The force of the impact completely damaged the front portion of the car, causing the engine to be ejected from the vehicle and land almost 100 feet away on the opposite side of the road.
All airbags in the car were deployed at the time of the collision, which officials believe helped prevent serious injuries to the driver.
Damage to Parked Vehicles
After hitting the electric pole, the rear portion of the car struck three two-wheelers parked along the roadside. Two of the two-wheelers were severely damaged after being crushed between the car and the electric pole.
Authorities said the damaged vehicles were later removed from the spot, and clearance work was underway at the time of reporting.
Probe Underway
The driver of the four-wheeler has been identified as a resident of Sambalpur. Reports suggested that another car was travelling close behind the accident-hit vehicle and that both vehicles may have been racing at the time of the mishap. However, this claim has not been officially confirmed.
