Bhubaneswar: The three accuseds involved in the attempt to rape of an MBA student inside a moving vehicle have been sent on judicial remand while Bhubaneswar city police today gave details about the incident. The arrested persons included two young engineers.

"The main accused Sagar Biswal was an engineer by profession. His accomplice Pavitra Behera too was an engineer who was employed in Chennai and the third accused was the driver of the vehicle in which the miscreants attempted to rape the girl in broad-day light," said Nitinjeet Singh, DCP, Bhubaneswar. The police has booked the trio under several sections of the IPC and CrPC including sections 366, 376 read with 511, 328, 324, 323, 307, 394 and 34. The charges included kidnapping and attempt to rape.

The DCP Nitinjeet Singh said that the main accused Sagar Biswal was actually working in the company of the girl`s brother at Cuttack. On the day the incident took place Sagar had engineered the plot of a fake interview in the office of a company located in Fortune Tower in the state capital. The girl was abducted from a place near Fortune Tower.

Such instances however have been taking place in Bhubaneswar at regular intervals. Last year a girl was allegedly kidnapped from Master Canteen locality and raped. Recently another girl was allegedly kidnapped from Salia Sahi and raped.
