Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today claimed to have solved two recent cases of loot in the capital city by arresting three persons. While one person was nabbed in connection with the loot near Passport office, two others residing in Kargil slum have been arrested on charges of looting a woman near Palaspalli area.

"The accused in the loot near Passport office, Niranjan Nayak has been arrested and 80 grams gold ornaments and mobile phones were seized from his possession. All the valuables that were looted have been seized. He had deposited a few ornaments in Manappuram Gold and rest was in his possession. All the items have been recovered," informed city DCP, Anup Sahoo.

During the course of investigation, it was also found that two CCTVs installed near the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Bhubaneswar are not functioning.

It is pertinent to mention that on July 10, some miscreants allegedly looted valuables worth Rs 3 lakhs by breaking the window of an Engineer’s car parked near the Regional Passport Office in Bhubaneswar. The Engineer was reportedly inside the Passport Office along with his wife and son while his brother stayed back in their car (bearing registration number- OD 05H 3175). Moments later when he went to some distance after parking and locking the car near the Passport Office, the robbers who supposedly were aware of the valuables kept inside the car, looted gold jewellery, a mobile phone and an ATM card by breaking the car window. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged at Nayapalli police station.

In connection with another loot incident near Palaspalli, police have arrested two persons from Kargil slum area. Following a chase, the accused had reportedly looted valuables from a woman who was driving a scooty with a relative pillion riding it.
