Nabarangpur: The candidates of ruling BJD and opposition Congress on Friday filed nomination papers for the November 30 by-elections to Umarkote assembly seat.

The by-elections is required due to untimely death of its BJD MLA Jagabandhu Majhi who was gunned down by miscreants on September 24.

Both the candidates visited Maa Bhandargharani Temple and performed puja before filing their documents. Sunadhar Pakulu, a candidate of Republican Party of India, also filed his nomination papers today.
