Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The Staff Council of the Ravenshaw University has suspended four students for two years due to their involvement in the Monday evening’s clash between groups of boarders of East and New PG hostels.
 
The suspended students won’t be allowed to enter the campus of the university and appear examination for two years, said an official release issued by the university on Wednesday evening. The suspended students are Priyajit Rayguru, Amiya Ranjan Sahoo, Sesashadhar Das and Susant Sethi. While Rayguru and Sethi are boarders of East Hostel the remaining two students are day scholars.
 
The university has also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 each on two boarders of New PG hostel.
 
Meanwhile, hostel inmates of the East Hostel have threatened a strike in case the university authorities don’t withdraw the suspension order.
 
To prevent any untoward incident, police forces have been deployed inside the campus, said sources.
 
On Monday evening there was a clash between the boarders of New PG and East hostels over passing comment. In the campus violence one motorcycle was burnt and properties were damaged.
