Bhubaneswar: Following an increase in the prices of diesel, the State government today hiked bus fares across all categories through its automatic fare adjustment mechanism.

According to a government notification, while the fare for ordinary and express buses has been increased by 1 paisa per kilometer, the fare for Deluxe and AC Deluxe categories has been revised upwards by 2 paise per kilometer.

With this hike coming into effect, the fare of ordinary buses will now stand at 56 paise per kilometer from 55 paise per kilometer previously. On the other hand, fare of express buses has been increased to 59 paise from 58 paise.

Similarly, deluxe category buses will now charge 76 paise per kilometer as against 74 paise earlier and for AC Deluxe buses, commuters have to fork out 97 paise instead of the current 95 paise per kilometer.
