Rourkela:  Police on Friday arrested builder Anmol Singh along with his two other associates for orchestrating a fake firing on himself on December 11 to seek police protection.

As per sources, builder Singh had taken huge sum of loans from several money lenders for his businesses but was unable to repay the amount.

Apprehending any threat to his life, Singh had planned to carry out a fake firing attack on him to get police protection so that he can get away from the money lenders.

As part of Singh's plan, he was returning home along with his bodyguard when miscreants attacked their SUV near Beldihi in Rourkela on December 11. His security guard Mithu Singh sustained three bullet injuries and was later admitted to hospital.

After the incident Brahmanitarang police had launched a detailed probe into the incident and recovered five bullet shells from the spot. This apart, cops also detained eight others to elicit more information regarding the incident.

It may be noted that this is not the first time as Singh had earlier planned such attacks on himself in 2009 and 2011 in a bid to receive police protection so that he does not have to face the money lenders.
