Brown sugar seized in Khurda, woman arrested

Khurda: Continuing its crackdown on illegal drugs trade, officials of the Excise department seized nearly 76 gm brown sugar after a raid in Bhaliabadi under Town Police limits of Khurda district today. The price of the seized contraband item is worth nearly Rs 8 lakh, informed sources.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of district excise and central Intelligence officials conducted a raid at Bhaliabadi area near New Bus Stand in the district. During the raid, the excise sleuths seized 76 gram brown sugar, 2.5 Kilograms ganja and cash worth Rs 5,100 from one Sarojini Sahu's house.

Later, Police arrested Sarojini and forwarded her to the court.

"We were tracking them since a long time, and finally we succeeded in nabbing them," said Excise Intelligence department inspector, Jagdish Chandra Samal.
