Bolangir: In a tragic incident, a brother-sister duo was killed in a road accident at Mahipur Square under Tushura Police Limits of Bolangir district, today morning.

The deceased have been identified as Mantu Benia and his sister Sanju of Phangania village under Muribahal block. Reportedly, Mantu was going to drop Sanju at her school after Durga Puja vacations when the unfortunate accident took place.

According to reports, the duo was on its way to Saliapali village when a rice-laden truck coming from Tushura hit their motorcycle at Mahipur square, killing both of them on the spot.

Following the accident, tension prevailed at the spot, as enraged locals staged a road blockade on the Deogaon-Tushura road demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased and construction of speed-breakers.

Till last reports came in, police reached the spot and are trying to pacify the enraged locals.

In another mishap, one person was killed while two others were critically injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on Raighar- Umerkote Road in Nabrangpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Bijay Mohapatra, a teacher of Raighar-based Arvind Puranga Sikhya Kendra.

According to reports, Bijay was run over by a speeding truck after the head-on collision with the other ill-fated motorcycle flung him on the path of the incoming truck. Two others were critically injured in the mishap and have been admitted to the Umerkote hospital for treatment.

After getting information, Raighar Police reached the spot and has launched an investigation in the matter.
