Bhubaneswar: Britain today showed interest in investing in Odisha`s social and mining sectors in joint collaboration with state government agencies.

The British government and private investors from the UK were keen to invest the state`s mining and social sector like health and education, said Chief Secretary B K Pattnaik who was present at a meeting between a UK delegation led by the British High Commissioner Richard Stagg comprising senior members of the DFID and Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik here.

Stating that the government handed over a proposal to the British team, Pattnaik said the DFID could help Odisha in different ways, particularly in the social sector. "A large team of the British government is likely to visit to have detailed discussion on development issues. We hope, the team will visit within a month," the chief secretary said.

"We have apprised the Chief Minister to be part of the development taking place in the state of Odisha. We have shared a range of ideas during the meeting," Stagg told reporters after the meeting.
