Bhubaneswar: The Khurda district administration today demolished the unauthorised bridge that was under construction on the Gangua canal on the outskirts of the capital city. The members of the Gangua Bachhao Committee had been spearheading a campaign to demolish the bridge and even staged dharnas and demonstrations to press their demand.

The members and activists feared that if the bridge was allowed to be erected over Gangua along with the connecting road, it would have created water logging manmade flood in the adjoining areas. Te district administration finally bowed down before public demands and demolished te bridge.
