Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) here has once again deferred its semester examinations scheduled to be held from November 4 and 5, in the wake of the twin calamities that ravaged the state recently.

The authorities have now decided to conduct tests of III, V and VII semesters of B Tech., B. Pharma, MCA, MBA and B Arch courses for the year 2013-14 on November 13.

“Looking at the devastations due to Cyclone Phailin and the resultant floods, we have decided to conduct the examinations in the second week of November. We hope our students will have ample time to prepare for the tests,” an official of BPUT said.

Earlier on October 18, the varsity had declared to postpone the above mentioned papers considering the flood situation that wrought havoc in 13 districts of the state affecting more than 3 lakh  people.

The revised schedule for all the courses with fresh dates will however be displayed in BPUT’s official website for the convenience of students, the official further said.

Appreciating the decision of the varsity authorities, students observed that it was really difficult to study and prepare for the examination for students especially belonging to flood-hit Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.

“We appreciate the decision of the varsity authorities who have understood our genuine problems,” they said.
