Bolangir: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will set up an LPG bottling plant at Barkani in Bolangir and the foundation stone for the same will be laid on May 21 by Union Petroleum Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.

Apart from Pradhan, Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Thawar Chand Gehlot, BJD MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Opposition leader Narasingha Mishra and Patnagarh MLA Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo will also be a part of the foundation stone-laying program.

According to sources, the LPG plant will be set up on 23 acre land and will have a capacity of producing 42 lakh cylinders every year.

The project is expected to start its operations by 2020 and will provide LPG cylinders to residents of 14 districts across the state, BPCL officials informed.

"The plant will be set up inside IDCO's industrial estate on 23 acre of land allotted to us. Dharmendra Pradhan will lay the foundation stone on May 21," said BPCL's Infrastructure head of the Eastern region, Manas Mohanty.

"The total cost of the project has been estimated at Rs 103 crore. The deadline for the completion of the project has been set for March 2020, but we will try to finish the project before that," Mohanty added.
