Boys outshine girls in Matric results

Bhubaneswar: Boys have outperformed girls in this year`s matriculation examination, as 1,70,042 boys cleared the hurdle compared to the 1,64,684 successful fairer sex.

Total pass percentage in this year’s exam is 67.90 while pass percentage of regular students stands at 70.80. According to the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), of the 5,03,995 students appeared 66,552 secured first division followed by 93,709 & 1,72,909 securing second and third division respectively.

Nuapada has topped the district chart of the highest pass percentage with 81.87 while Gajapati remains at the bottom with 54.31%. Board officials said results of 1,099 students have been withheld while 9,939 students were caught for malpractice during exams.
