Cuttack: Two bombs were hurled at the Mahanadi South division office of the Irrigation department at Jobra here today by miscreants, police sources said. Two bombs were hurled by some unidentified persons around 1.10 pm. While one bomb went off the other crude bomb was retrieved by the bomb disposal squad. One lady clerk of the of the office received minor bruises as the bomb thrown through the window exploded near her, the sources said.

The city police have already started investigating into the incident. "We are on the job and verifying certain facts as nobody is coming forward to give any account of the persons who hurled the bombs," said the local Mangalabag police inspector P K Rath attributing the motive to tender-related activities. The division is currently selling tender forms for at least 22 minor works costing around Rs 2 crore. The selling of the forms began on April 10 and would continue till Friday, sources said.
