Youths can drive State towards success, says Naveen Patnaik

Berhampur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged the students and youths of the State to oppose strongly the anti-Odisha elements who are always campaigning for their own interest.

Addressing the south Odisha zonal youth conference of the BJD at Ambapua here in Ganjam district, Patnaik said his government is always working for development of State making it a model State in the country. “But some are involved in anti-Odisha campaign to tarnish the image. You should all oppose such move and reach out to people with the message of our success”, he added.

“We have been awarded by the Centre for achieving excellence in all spheres including PMGSY, rural housing scheme etc. We aim to reach pinnacle of success during the centenary celebration of statehood in 2036. Youth mass can make this vision a success”, he pointed out.

Speaking to more than 20,000 students and youth activists at the conference, the CM assured more job opportunities for educated youths. “My government aimed at creating more jobs through skill development programme. As many as 50,000 posts have been created in last three years in government sector. We have invited 10 companies for setting up their units in State which can provide employment to 50,000 educated youths”, Patnaik assured.

The BJD supremo also came down heavily on the BJP-led central government for rejecting Odisha’s demand for Special Category Status.

He said this was the main agenda of BJP in its manifesto during last election. But, the party has taken a negative stance on the matter after coming to power in Centre.

Similarly, Naveen also flayed the Centre for not giving due importance to farming community and taking impartial stance on Mahanadi issue.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the BJD president also justified party’s stand on giving support to NDA’s presidential candidate. “President of India does not belong to any political party. So, when Prime Minister of India suggested the name of Ramanath Kovind, we extended our support taking all factors in to consideration in the national interest”, he said. However, the CM maintained that the BJD will continue to fight against Central negligence.
