Youth robs uncle with help of girlfriend

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police today arrested a youth for robbing Rs 12 lakh from his own uncle’s house. The incident has taken everyone by surprise because the accused took help of none other than his girlfriend to carry out the robbery.

The accused has been identified as the nephew of Prakash Acharya, a retired naval officer residing in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the accused used his girlfriend to call his uncle out of his house and taking advantage of his uncle’s absence robbed Rs 12 lakh cash.

Acharya suspected that something is fishy and checked his bedroom. Finding that he has been looted he lodged an FIR.

“I realised that someone might have hoaxed me by asking me to come outside. My cash bag was torn apart and the money stashed in it was missing,” Acharya said.

Briefing media, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said “After the complainant reported about the theft, Chandrasekharpur Police investigated the matter and arrested his relative and another youth and seized all the cash. From preliminary investigations we have found that the accused knew about the cash and the exact spot where it was kept.”
