Youth Congress members hold ‘Yuva Adhikar Samabesh’

Bhubaneswar: The State Youth Congress unit on Tuesday organised ‘Yuva Adhikar Samabesh’ at the Lower PMG Square here, demanding jobs for the unemployed youths in the State.

Akhil Bharatiya Youth Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Brar, who attended the protest march, slammed both Centre and the State government for lack of employment opportunities in Odisha.

“We demand that the government should provide jobs for youths and return the money to those who were duped in various chit fund scams. We will continue protesting until our demands are fulfilled,” Brar said.

Blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the unemployment scenario in the country, the Congress members said he is smartly playing with the politics over poverty in Odisha.

Meanwhile, BJD too questioned the efforts of the Centre to create job opportunities for the youth.

“The present NDA government has failed to create jobs for youths. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to create new employment opportunities, but so far he has done nothing,” stated BJD Spokesperson Pratap Deb.

Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan, Opposition chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati, AICC secretary Bhakta Das, former MP Pradeep Majhi, Sarat Pattnaik attended the event to lend support to the young brigade.

Sources said, around 40 activists were detained while trying to break police barricade as a mark of protest.
