“Why is Naveen mum on Justice Das’ remark?” asks BJP

Bhubaneswar: A day after staging a demonstration at the office of chit fund Commission in Cuttack against Justice MM Das for his ‘irresponsible’ remark against poor investors, the BJP on Tuesday intensified its attack on the ruling BJD taking out rallies at all its organizational headquarters.

The party targeted the chief minister for keeping silent on the issue.

“Why is the chief minister silent on the issue? There was a big hue and cry when Justice Das stated that the people have invested money for their greed. Is it not the responsibility of the chief minister to speak to the poor investors when they are in a shock after Das said that the State government can do little in the matter?” asked BJP’s Surama Padhi.

“Justice Das should be immediately removed from his post,” stated she.

Accusing the BJD of siphoning off a major share of the chit fund money, the party said that the CM is scared of coming out in public on the issue.

“All the leaders of the BJD are more or less involved in the chit fund scam and have amassed huge wealth out of it. That is the reason they are not appearing in public on this issue. The CM is also scared that he may be in trouble,” State BJP Yuva Morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy said.

Meanwhile, the BJD, which had invited the Opposition parties for a discussion in the House on the matter yesterday, said the BJP is trying to burnish its pro-poor credentials.

“The BJP is politicising the issue. If they are really worried about the problems of the investors, they should meet the scam-affected people instead of organising rallies,” BJD spokesperson Dibya Shankar Mishra said.
