Utkal University of Culture gets new campus today

Bhubaneswar: The permanent campus of Utkal University of Culture will be inaugurated by Governor of Odisha and Chancellor SC Jamir and chief minister Naveen Patnaik today at Madanpur on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The varsity authorities and students are excited over the shifting of the institute to its permanent campus after waiting for years. Lack of adequate infrastructure had posed a major challenge for the students from outside the State and the country.

Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), which was entrusted with the responsibility of constructing the building, took three years to complete the structure at a cost of Rs 60 crore. The varsity aims at shifting some courses to the new campus from the coming academic session.
President of India Pranab Mukherjee was scheduled to inaugurate the campus in 2014. But the inauguration had to be put off as the construction work had not been completed.
