Tribal girls allege harassment by warden, leave hostel

Gajapati: As many as 64 girl students of Mohana government high school in the district run by ST/SC development department on Monday left hostel alleging harassment by the warden.

Sources said  a week ago, the girls had a heated argument with the warden as the latter did not allow the hostel inmates to watch Saraswati Puja in the locality. After coming to know that the girls have ‘disobeyed’ his order, the warden allegedly abused and harassed them in the hostel.

Protesting the behaviour of the warden, the girls left the hostel in the morning. They too had alleged that substandard food is being provided in the hostel.

In a related development parents of the girl students have blocked the Berhampur-Rayagada road demanding action against the warden.
