Tremors of Manipur quake felt in North Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Tremors were felt in Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts in north Odisha after a major earthquake, measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale, rocked Eastern and North Eastern part of India in the wee hours on Monday.
Initial reports indicated that two persons were killed and 30 injured due to the earthquake.
The quake occurred at 4.35 AM at a depth of 17 km below the ground and the epicentre is located at somewhere in Tamenglong district of Manipur.
The epicentre has been located at Long 24.8 Deg North and Lat 93.5 Deg East, it said.
The earthquake was also felt in parts of Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura.
India’s northeast is considered the sixth major earthquake-prone belt in the world.
